5th GAME - CRUISED along with BLIPS

Folks

Apologies for the delay in updating the fifthe match.

Lets start by thanking the guest players (too many for this match) Yuvraj(Amex),Baba,Harish.
Rajiv was the stand in skipper for the match and he duly lost the toss. The opponent chose to bat first and this was a match where we played with lot of FAT and Cholestrol charactersied by mis fields, dropped catches, no balls and freehits resulting in boundaries.
Rajiv and Baba shared the new ball. Rajiv started the match by picking the wicket. The batsman was caught PLUMB in front with rajiv achieving some late swing which did the batsman. Baba on the other complimented Rajiv by picking a wicket in his first over. The score at the end of seven overs read as 31/3, Baba being the wrecker in chief with 2 wkts.
Bala was brought in as first change he duly obliged by picking a wkt of his first ball. Bala was tight as usual bowling to a tight field set primarily on the off...

Harish was introduced from the other end and he started by bowling some jappers which were tooo good for the batsman. His second over though was a mixed one with three boundaries scored with the other three deliveries were unpalayable.
The score at the end of 13th over 85/4 clearly showing the bowling and the fielding effort.
Kouschik who normally bowls tightly gave away runs ata fair clip. But catches were dropped (bot dollies) in his bowling with Sunder and Rajive being the culprits. To add insult to the injury over throws were the order of the day while he was bowling. He ended conceding 32 runs in his alloted 4 overs. Yours truly also bowled couple of overs without any success giving away 14 runs in 2 overs.
The opponent scored 132 runs ( atleast 30 runs more than what they deserved) and this certainly looked a stiff target, but we were confident because of the fact that the ground was too small for all our players.

shivram and Bala opened the innings and bala kicked off the inning exactly the way we wanted to start by hitting a boundary of the forst ball of our inning. The Run rate never came below 7.5 and shivram was in to his element scoring 17 boundaries in his knock of 83. Bala on the other end complimented shivram by rotating the strike well. Bala fell when the score was nearing 90. Baba was sent in as Rajiv thought that not enough runs were there for RAJESH to show his batting prowess.
We won the match in the 16th over finished by shivram in his typical fashion......boundary hoiked in the direction of mid wicket.....

Shivram turned the so called mountain into a mole through his clean hitting and his knock did not give any oppurtunity fot the bowling side. After the initial 5 overs they were just going through thier motions.

Though we won the game convincingly, we have to pull our socks up in the fielding and the bowling department. We missed bowler like param who gives a different dimension to our attack with his left arm spin. Batting looks strong as we still had Rajesh, Rajiv,Koushchik waiting to pad up. fileding is certainly an area of concern as we have to be more consistent in our efforts.

Lets enjoy the most convincing victory that we have had after the first game of the tournament!!!!

Thanks for a neat blog girish...

personally i would like to thank Harish, Baba and Yuvraj for making it on the day... or else we would have been thrusted to play with 8 players.. Had to include Nithi in the game.. so we would have been 9 :) thats it.. jus joking...

but yeah i confess..my fielding efforts were pathetic... fats and cholestrol mentioned was absolutely right!!! but i personally promise to do much better in future!!

Spl mention to Nithi for being very swift on the field...

My sincere request to Koushik not to field at gully anymore!!!! in his lifetime!!!

@ Girish,

Thanks for the precise blog that had almost all the elements in making our non participants visualize what happened exactly on the field.

I do feel we as team got to be agile and take efforts to improve our fielding standard. For this match our fielding lapses could have proved fatal had we had a batting collapse & the opponents bowled a bit better.Overthrows and misfield can be averted for sure to boost our overall performance.

My personal confession :I am promising to better my on field performance without any compromise on it.I was desperate to get in, bat and possibly win the match as I couldn't look at Rajiv's face till we won the match.

A special congrats to Shivaram for his sizzling performance. He always made his presence felt on the field with both bat & glove (except for one tough drop catch of my bowling) !. Nevertheless Shiva's all round contribution on field certainly lifts the team even when the chips are down ! Gr8 Going Dude !

@ rajiv ,

Machi here after i will not field in gully only when u r bowling :)

I can understand your bowling & gully position jinx's that has been happening for quite few matches offlate.I felt very bad, ashamed & stinged for that dropped catch even now & would never want it to happen again.

Hi Guys
First of all apologies for not making it as i had my league commitments. I could have still made it, but it wont be nice for someone who had come with the intention of playing and finally gets dropped.
Its good that i was able to look in to the match right from ball 1 so that i could able to see the mistakes which were committing.
Do strongly agree that mistakes are part of the game, but not like the one we did in this game.
It was so funny and at times bad to see such fielding lapses as though we are playing benefit game.
Cant really understand the game plan of koushik , who bowled so slowly which he has not done it before and that too in a small ground like loyala. If it had been a good side, atleast 3 balls would have been lost .
My only suggestion is , Irrespective of the ground and opposition, if you bowl to your strength with little adjustments depending on the batsman, you would definitely succeed. And koushik was the key bowler in the match as he was the only spinner in the side.
Basics seriayave pannala.Balla pudichu back to keeper or bowler correct poturuntha, we would have saved 20 runs.May be we were little lethargic or overconfident cant say.
Batting was just amazing and after long time i was seeing some lusty hitting Well played Shiva and keep going like this in everymatch.
As i always polambify , we need to make use of the first 5 overs and try to get atleast 40 to 50 runs
and for that we can even loose 1 or 2 wickets.
No wonder convincing win but lot of patches to be made.
cheers

@ Param,

I certainly agree with you on the constructive comments you to have pointed out on my bowling slower on that small ground.I did explain to you as y i bowled so though i didn't want to bowl that way !

But then as a bowler on the field i have to listen to what the captain says and how he wants the team to go on in each aspect .

And I did understand the idea of Rajiv asking me to bowl slower and invite the batsmen to play some shots in spite of those misfield and dropped catches was because, only one of the opponent batsmen went on to score 50 + out of the total 133. And that batsmen was trying to heave me almost all the time i tossed the ball and not even once did he succeed .

Rajiv clearly felt that the batsmen was playing out his time in the middle purely out of luck as he was dropped thrice (sitters) and people to follow him where not that good either in striking the leather out of the small ground.

In fact apart from these i did manage to take a caught & bowled of the same batsmen which ended in a no ball and thereby he survived for a free hit, on which too i took his wicket again ... caught by rajesh @ sh. third man, but then he threw the ball for an overthrow by mistake forgetting that it was a free hit. :)This was few of the on field comedies which we did on that day.. but then guys all these are a learning curve for us since we have regrouped !

But by then if i had bowled in my normal manner as i would have liked or like param advised and say we dint have those misfield's and dropped chances i would probably have ended my figures say 4overs for 18 runs with 4 wickets. The same effect would have been there for every bowlers who bowled on that day !

Guys please throw in some constructive critics like the above one's .. we wish to hear more from you.....
